19 beds 45 miles from central London
Nearest major route: A3 between Guildford and Petersfield Nearest station: Haslemere (½ mile)
  1. Heading South on the A3 at Milford (just South of Godalming and Guildford) take the A286 to Haslemere.
  2. OR heading North on the A3 at Hindhead (just before tunnel) take the A287 to Haslemere.
  3. At the junction with the B2131 in Haslemere (a quaint sort of half T-junction and half roundabout) turn Left towards Petworth.
  4. About 200 yards along this road take the inconspicuous track to the left (Collards Lane) – it’s alongside a Veterinary Surgery, which is shown by a hanging sign.
  5. Follow this lane down past houses and allotment, and round to right round for over ½ mile to the basecamp at the end.

The basecamp is totally rebuilt from an old farm building and is to a very high standard as befits this posh end of the commuter belt in leafy Surrey. New timber framed building for long term volunteers built beside (with wooden shingled roof of which our group helped prepare some of them), and both heated by log burning central heating, and solar panels to help with power and hot water. There are three bedrooms (4, 6, 9), a well equipped kitchen with two fridge freezers and large cooker, washrooms and a very spacious sitting / dining room with efficient log burning stove.
Only a short walk into Haslemere and it’s pubs, not so cheap since Wetherspoons sold up, however The Swan is still open.
