Ashridge (Chilterns Bunkhouse)

Nearest major route: A41 between Watford and Aylesbury Nearest station: Tring (2 miles)
  1. Leave the A41 at signs for Berkhamstead town centre (B4251) and pass through it.
  2. Turn RIGHT at the traffic lights onto the B4506 signposted Ashridge.
  3. Follow this for about 2 Miles, climbing the hill and crossing a common.
  4. Turn LEFT onto a minor road signposted Aldbury.
  5. About 400 yards on the RIGHT is the basecamp entrance through a farm gate, which you may need to open. If you start to go downhill you’ve gone too far.

Opened in 1988, the bunkhouse consists of two converted 19th-century barns situated in a secluded Chiltern woodland. One barn contains the two
dormitories, each sleeping 8, and the other houses kitchen, living area and toilets and showers. Air source heating and night storage heaters.
